The event was well celebrated over here in Zaria  Kaduna State of Nigeria. 
On Friday morning 5 members of the Palliative Care Association composing of 2 Doctors, 1 Social Worker, a Palliative Nurse Specialist and a Islamic clergy had an awareness programme at the local Television. The discussion covered most aspects of palliative care, ranging from defination of palliative care, holistic approach of palliative and who benefits from palliative care and what palliative care services are available within Zaria. This was televised later on in the week to about a 500,000 viewers. A team also had a radio programme which was broacast both in English and Hausa. This was very  successful with many people phoning in to volunteer their services and support. The celebration concluded with a walk and presentation of gifts to 25 palliative in Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Shika, Zaria. 
The celebration of the World Palliative Care Day has greatly increased the awareness of palliative care services  in Zaria.
