Big day for palliative care in Lebanon. The National Committee for Pain and Palliative Care held a conference to share the work and recommendations of its four subcommittees: Education, Practice, Research and Policy. The meeting was sponsored and supported by MOPH and WHO. The speakers were Dr Nabil Kronfol, Dr Hassan El Bushra, Dr Michel Daher, Dr Hibah Osman, Dr Huda Huijer Abu Saad, Mrs. Helen Samaha Nuweihed, Dr. Marie Therese Mattar, and Dr Walid Ammar.

Many important topics and issues were brought up and the audience participated in the discussion through questions and recommendations. Dr Marie Therese Mattar announced the progress in opioid legislation and availability in Lebanon. The panel agreed that hopefully on the next World Hospice and Palliative Care Day the committee would address us again with more news about the advancements and progress made in palliative care in the Lebanese healthcare system.
