Compassionate Korail, Bangladesh

This project has now come to an end. We were supporting the creation of a sustainable compassionate community for older people with life-limiting and terminal illness in the largest slum of Dhaka (Korail). 

Our project goal was to improve the quality of life of older people in an urban slum of Dhaka and to share the lessons learned and best practice across 5 other target countries. Our objectives were:

1) To build a self-sustaining compassionate community model for older people with life-limiting conditions in the Korail slum of Bangladesh building on the palliative care pilot model; and 2) To share learning relating to compassionate palliative care communities for older people from the Dhaka pilot project across our other 5 priority countries – Ethiopia, Jordan, Philippines, Panama and Ukraine.
