Manipur is a small state in the North-East part of India. We are inhabited with a beautiful geographical location. Observation of the World Hospice and Palliative day done at Health and Wellness Center, Awang Wabagai, Imphal West District, Manipur by simple function involving PRI, Dr. Laimayum Tilakeswari Devi, State Nodal Officer, National Program of Palliative Care, State Health Society, Manipur , HWC staff led by Mrs. Ranita Maibam, Community Health Officer, care givers (family members) of patient under palliative care. A theme talk along with awareness campaign was held. There was a training session for the caregivers conducted by nursing officer of Palliative care society,Imphal, a voluntary organization leading the palliative care movement in Manipur. Home visit to the Palliative care patients and distribution of medicine were carried out. This day is also observed to strengthen the commitment of state towards home based palliative care at all the Health and Wellness center and also hospital based palliative care at the district hospital. It is a day to ignite our ownself to respect, care and also support the people who are in need, and who have served the society in one way or other during their early days. It is a day to show our respect to our elders and parents who are now old and sick and also a day to pledge for taking care of their wishes. It is a day to be compassionate and respect their choices, aspirations and helping them to lead a pain free dignified life. We all know the disease is incurable but the pain is curable. Let us support them..
