Palliative Care Australia (PCA) is marking World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (13 October) by expanding their paediatric palliative care resources to be available in four additional languages: Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Vietnamese. The four languages were identified in collaboration with the Paediatric Palliative Care Australia and New Zealand (PaPCANZ) Members about their patient population needs and aim to support people from linguistically diverse backgrounds to access accurate information about paediatric palliative care available in Australia. As part of the translation process, the resources were provided to community organisations for feedback on the acceptability and appropriateness of the translations and ultimately community approval. The resources seek to empower families accessing paediatric palliative care to assist them to make decisions about their child’s care, as well as being accessible to their broader community and the health professions who support them. The new resources are available from the PCA Paediatric Palliative Care website. This work has been funded by the Australian Government Department of Health.
