My Mum passed away from cancer five years ago at home and although it was traumatic in that she was very young, as were we, her children, the hospice team involved supported us in keeping our Mum at home and became like part of our family for the last few weeks of her life. As a result of the support from our hospice nurses, we were able to honour my Mum's wishes and keep her at home until she passed away and we were all with her when she died. The hospice team were and continue to be supportive and made her passing as comfortable as it could have been given the circumstances.
