In June, WHPCA welcomed a new Programme Manager, Rachel Crosby, to the team.
With a degree in Anthropology and a Masters in Non-Profit Management, she has always had a commitment to international development and working alongside other people to improve their situations.
She has extensive experience in programme management and has worked on a wide range of issues including health, education, conservation and community economic development.
She has also lived and/or worked in a variety of countries including Brazil, Colombia, Niger, Uganda, Myanmar, São Tomé e Principe and the UK.
In Brazil she was a founding member and director of a community organisation which provided palliative care services for poor people living with HIV/AIDS and their families at the start of the epidemic before treatment was available.
More recently, she worked as Programme Manager at the African Palliative Care Association in Uganda, where she had the privilege of being part of the team supporting the development of palliative care in a number of African countries.
Rachel is now based in Devon, where she lives with her husband. Her main responsibility at WHPCA is supporting the team in Bangladesh with the Narayanganj Palliative Care and Compassionate Korail projects..
