Originally a nurse, I have worked in palliative care for the last twenty-five years in both adult and children’s palliative care. I have held a variety of posts in; clinical care; management; research; policy and the voluntary sector. This varied experience coupled with my understanding of working at a national and international level provides a firm foundation upon which to build.
I am currently CEO of the European Assocation for Palliative Care (EAPC). The EAPC currently represents 55 national palliative care associations from 31 countries across Europe and has indivudal members from 47 countries across the world. As CEO it is important to understand the specialty and ensure that the EAPC remains true to its mission and values. We have a reputation for supporting research and education through the development of white papers and the organisation of world congresses which take place every two years.
Being a member of the board of the WHPCA provides the opportunity to network with similar organisations from around the world and identify areas where we can work together to make a difference to people with life-limiting conditions.
